From Nov. 28, 2011: 14 Months; Stolen Bike

On Tuesday we met a man from Missouri who is Hebrew who married a Ghanaian who is Christian Scientist. He said he would be in Ghana for 6 weeks to visit with his wife. It was interesting to meet him and exchange a conversation. The man had been in Ghana for less than a week and it was interesting to see the culture difference between him and I.
Thursday is when I it my 14th month, when it was Thanksgiving, my sister's 17 birthday, and when I woke up to see that my bike had been stolen the previous night. We lock the compound gate, but we hadn't locked the bikes. Regardless because my bike was stolen and I hadn't used the lock so I will have 10GHC taken out of my monthly sub to pay for it. I learned my lesson and the mission delivered another bike which rides better, but was clearly built (the frame) for a preteen or young teenager. I am able to ride it just fine though with the seat all the way up, but it is a comical site. I will be paying the 10GHC until I go home bringing my monthly sub to 120GHC ($70).
Saturday Elder Macaulay and I had a baptism for Louis Boateng (25), Seto Banini (11), and Cynthia Addy(26). Cynthia didn't show up for her baptism making it my fist incident. We think she is trying to distance herself from us so we will let her have her space. The bishop did say that he still wants to help her with her baby's head issue for the sake of humanitarian service so we will see how it goes. The two who were baptized were part member families which was nice. The baptism had a lot of people attend too (24) so that was another plus. In the evening we were able to see two people where our lessons consisted of us walking for the them to buy somethings with us talking. We were able to take Nii Tackie to tour the church and he liked it. He also came to church with his 2.5 year old son on Sunday and he really liked it.
Aside from Nii coming to church on Sunday we had the recent convert, Enoch, bring his 15 year old sister, Gifty. Gifty had been reading the pamphlets we had given to Enoch and had even gotten him to take her to the chapel on Saturday for a play rehearsal for the 23rd of December. At the end of the night we ended up at our bishop's house and the wife said that for Christmas she would buy the ingredients to make any food dish from home for me to make for us and the family. I think I will make fajitas. The cost of the meal is not a factor.
