From October 3, 2011; Elder Mcauly aka Nacho Libre; Rebuilding the Area

Monday we cafed and I got a hair cut. The series of hot days ended by
a storm bringing down the temperature. The only downside was that
there was some lighting that struck the area of the cafe internet link
pole resulting in the connection being cut and remained that way until
Wednesday evening where we then finished up our emails. Recently there
was a doctor telling people that everyone needs to live a healthier
lifestyle by avoiding all of the starchy, fatty foods to eat here and
to do some exercising. She said that one doesn't have to kill
themselves to stay in shape they just need to do some exercise that
breaks out a sweat. I would of liked to inform her how her advice
isn't accurate because if one took her advice literally, all they would
have to do would be to walk outside for less than 5 minuets during the
day to start sweating.
Tuesday we went into Madina for our weekly district meeting. We were
the first to arrive and then joined by the two other sister
companionships comprising the district of 6.  One of the Sisters,
Sister Mbownwa, from Uganda, came to Ghana in the same group of
missionaries as myself. We had fun talking about the time passing and
all those things. After the meeting we went into the market opposite
the church where we bought what food things we wanted for the week.
Though the markets are hectic it is one of my favorite parts of Ghana-
walking around and getting lost in the culture of things. Later in the
day it started to rain heavily resulting in all of the roads here
becoming very muddy and difficult to navigate through.
Wednesday I had written  down that one of the ways I can describe
Elder Macauly is that he acts a lot like Jack Black in Nacho Libre.
On Saturday we went around reminding the people we had taught over
the week for church the following day. Because of how Elder Macauly and I
became companions here we really didn't have many people in our
teaching pool which has sent us to do a lot of door to door contacting.
The door to door aspect is more of just knocking on compound gates
because New Legon/ Adenta Housing is an estates area.
Sunday we had two investigators at church. One works by the cafe
while the other is a cook for some members here. They both liked the
church and looked forward to continue coming. The only thing is that
the two who visited live out of our area we are to teach so we will
send their contact info to the missionaries in their area. I don't
really know why we didn't have anyone else show up so that wasn't too
great. We were supposed to have a person interviewed for baptism, but
they didn't show up. The one was a boyfriend and girlfriend who were
planning to come, but we received a call from the guy saying that the
girl had kicked him out of the house and he was on the other side of
Ghana. Though the week was a bit rough, I was grateful for the two
people who came to church (one even brought his child) because I was
able to see their desire and willingness to follow the gospel they had
felt to be true through the Holy Ghost.
